Gavin Fearey will be speaking at the Boot Camp regarding the regulation of cryptocurrencies as commodities and lessons learned from discussions with private fund managers, digital asset exchanges, custodians, and regulators about cryptocurrencies and other blockchain investments. He is with Winstead PC, one of the largest business law firms in Texas. Fearey is a member of both the Corporate Securities / Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group as well as the Investment Management and Private Funds Industry Group. Gavin brings a distinct expertise to the practice with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Principia College, a Masters of Science in Information from the University of Michigan, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Northwestern University School of Law.
Fearey has extensive experience advising investment managers on legal and compliance issues for hedge funds, private equity funds, and venture capital funds. Having served in-house, he has a deep understanding of practical issues for Commodity Pool Operators (CPOs) and Commodity Trading Advisers (CTAs) trading in numerous currency, commodity and financial markets.
